Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Building & Construction and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 1.85%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Gamesa (MC:GAM), which rose 3.72% or 0.745 points to trade at 20.755 at the close. Banco Santander (MC:SAN) added 3.50% or 0.137 points to end at 4.050 and Caixabank SA (MC:CABK) was up 3.18% or 0.074 points to 2.398 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA), which lost 2.08% or 0.115 points to trade at 5.410 in late trade. Amadeus IT (MC:AMA) declined 0.16% or 0.070 points to end at 43.010 and Bankia (MC:BKIA) gained 0.14% or 0.001 points to 0.729.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 162 to 37 and 19 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.07% or 0.85 to $1256.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.56% or 0.28 to hit $50.16 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.54% or 0.28 to trade at $51.75 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.60% to 1.0992, while EUR/GBP fell 0.11% to 0.9013.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.40% at 97.92.
