Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Consumer Services and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 added 1.11% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Banco Popular (MC:POP), which rose 8.85% or 0.061 points to trade at 0.750 at the close. International Consolidated Airlines Group SA (MC:ICAG) added 5.69% or 0.384 points to end at 7.132 and Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) was up 4.20% or 0.290 points to 7.200 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ferrovial (MC:FER), which lost 2.06% or 0.415 points to trade at 19.730 in late trade. Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5) declined 0.60% or 0.075 points to end at 12.400 and Grifols SA (MC:GRLS) shed 0.59% or 0.150 points to 25.200.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 116 to 67 and 17 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.06% or 0.77 to $1229.37 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.21% or 0.55 to hit $46.07 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.03% or 0.50 to trade at $48.88 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.08% to 1.0993, while EUR/GBP fell 0.16% to 0.8485.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 98.53.
