Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Consumer Services and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 0.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were ArcelorMittal SA (MC:MTS), which rose 2.62% or 0.525 points to trade at 20.590 at the close. Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA) added 1.72% or 0.089 points to end at 5.268 and Cellnex Telecom SA (MC:CLNX) was up 1.22% or 0.22 points to 18.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ferrovial (MC:FER), which lost 0.93% or 0.175 points to trade at 18.700 in late trade. Tecnicas Reunidas (MC:TRE) declined 0.56% or 0.190 points to end at 33.865 and Melia Hotels (MC:MEL) shed 0.54% or 0.070 points to 12.800.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 104 to 60 and 24 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.17% or 2.07 to $1211.77 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.57% or 0.25 to hit $44.48 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.51% or 0.24 to trade at $46.95 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.03% to 1.1396, while EUR/GBP rose 0.10% to 0.8853.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 95.84.
