Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Oil & Gas and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.36%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Carrefour SA (PA:CARR), which rose 3.82% or 0.96 points to trade at 26.11 at the close. Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY) added 1.62% or 0.49 points to end at 31.05 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) was up 1.19% or 1.04 points to 88.76 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Valeo SA (PA:VLOF), which lost 3.75% or 5.00 points to trade at 128.45 in late trade. Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) declined 3.34% or 0.47 points to end at 13.62 and Essilor International Compagnie Generale d’Optique SA (PA:ESSI) shed 1.94% or 2.15 points to 108.40.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Edenred (PA:EDEN) which rose 6.36% to 18.40, STMicroelectronics (PA:STM) which was up 4.74% to settle at 5.131 and Electricite de France SA (PA:EDF) which gained 4.45% to close at 11.51.
The worst performers were Elis Services SA (PA:ELIS) which was down 4.25% to 16.44 in late trade, CGG (PA:GEPH) which lost 3.95% to settle at 0.73 and Rexel (PA:RXL) which was down 3.85% to 11.85 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 365 to 295 and 97 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 0.45% to 20.02.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.82% or 10.10 to $1236.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 2.75% or 1.14 to hit $40.36 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 2.19% or 0.96 to trade at $42.88 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.37% to 1.1307, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.7944.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.42% at 94.54.
