Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Consumer Goods and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Boskalis Westmin (AS:BOSN), which rose 2.55% or 0.82 points to trade at 32.91 at the close. Aegon (AS:AEGN) added 2.41% or 0.085 points to end at 3.619 and NN Group (AS:NN) was up 2.21% or 0.52 points to 24.09 in late trade.
Biggest losers included KPN Kon (AS:KPN), which lost 4.36% or 0.134 points to trade at 2.942 in late trade. Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) declined 1.57% or 0.34 points to end at 21.68 and Unilever NV (AS:UNc) shed 1.04% or 0.43 points to 41.55.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 105 to 60 and 9 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 2.60% to 17.81.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 2.33% or 1.00 to $41.92 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 2.54% or 1.15 to hit $44.08 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.40% or 5.35 to trade at $1333.65 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.05% to 1.0991, while EUR/GBP rose 0.05% to 0.8375.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.13% at 97.30.
