Investing.com – Italy equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Chemicals, Telecoms and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 gained 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Mediaset (MI:MS), which rose 5.87% or 0.242 points to trade at 4.362 at the close. Banca Mediolanum SpA (MI:BMED) added 4.06% or 0.290 points to end at 7.440 and Moncler SpA (MI:MONC) was up 3.24% or 0.54 points to 17.19 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banca Pop Emilia Romagna (MI:EMII), which lost 2.42% or 0.125 points to trade at 5.035 in late trade. Banco Bpm (MI:BAMI) declined 2.23% or 0.062 points to end at 2.722 and Unicredit (MI:CRDI) shed 2.01% or 0.0540 points to 2.6260.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 195 to 136 and 25 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 2.44% or 1.24 to $52.06 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 2.50% or 1.34 to hit $54.98 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.13% or 1.50 to trade at $1184.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.45% to 1.0509, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.8664.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.34% at 102.36.
