Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Manufacturing sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 0.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN), which rose 3.30% or 9.80 points to trade at 306.80 at the close. MMK (MCX:MAGN) added 2.75% or 0.401 points to end at 15.000 and Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) was up 2.75% or 15.10 points to 565.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE), which lost 3.33% or 71.0 points to trade at 2061.0 in late trade. GidroOGK-011D (MCX:HYDR) declined 2.47% or 0.0145 points to end at 0.5730 and Magnit (MCX:MGNT) shed 2.09% or 247.0 points to 11577.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 98 to 87 and 9 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 2.14% to 36.790.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 2.45% or 28.80 to $1203.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.10% or 0.06 to hit $57.09 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.38% or 0.24 to trade at $65.03 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 1.39% to 51.620, while EUR/RUB rose 1.55% to 56.227.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.44% at 96.64.
