Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Consumer Services and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 fell 1.53%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were REN (LS:RENE), which rose 0.36% or 0.0100 points to trade at 2.7900 at the close. EDP (LS:EDP) added 0.30% or 0.0090 points to end at 2.9900 and Sonae (LS:YSO) was up 0.10% or 0.0010 points to 1.0170 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which lost 6.47% or 0.0090 points to trade at 0.1300 in late trade. Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP) declined 6.03% or 0.0028 points to end at 0.0436 and EDP Renovaveis (LS:EDPR) shed 2.34% or 0.1530 points to 6.3970.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 31 to 19 and 6 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for May delivery was down 2.33% or 0.92 to $38.61 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 2.42% or 0.90 to hit $36.28 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 1.16% or 14.50 to trade at $1230.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.09% to 1.1113, while EUR/GBP rose 1.12% to 0.7853.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 96.64.
