Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Utilities and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 gained 1.36%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Banco BPI (LS:BBPI), which rose 3.57% or 0.0390 points to trade at 1.1300 at the close. Mota Engil (LS:MOTA) added 3.51% or 0.0550 points to end at 1.6200 and J. Martins SGPS (LS:JMT) was up 2.93% or 0.4400 points to 15.4700 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which lost 1.63% or 0.0040 points to trade at 0.2420 in late trade. Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP) declined 1.28% or 0.0002 points to end at 0.0154 and Montepio (LS:MPIO) shed 0.44% or 0.002 points to 0.456.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 32 to 18 and 4 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for November delivery was up 1.82% or 0.85 to $47.68 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.36% or 1.07 to hit $46.41 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.03% or 13.70 to trade at $1345.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.33% to 1.1227, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.8580.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.30% at 95.17.
