Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Utilities, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 gained 0.26% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were EDP Renovaveis (LS:EDPR), which rose 2.34% or 0.1370 points to trade at 5.9900 at the close. EDP (LS:EDP) added 1.77% or 0.0500 points to end at 2.8750 and CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS:CTT) was up 1.70% or 0.1020 points to 6.0900 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP), which lost 12.38% or 0.1597 points to trade at 1.1305 in late trade. Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA) declined 3.03% or 0.0060 points to end at 0.1920 and Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC) shed 0.99% or 0.0080 points to 0.8020.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 20 to 19 and 2 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for February delivery was up 0.40% or 0.22 to $55.91 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.57% or 0.30 to hit $53.13 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.60% or 7.05 to trade at $1158.75 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.08% to 1.0628, while EUR/GBP fell 0.02% to 0.8385.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 101.05.
