Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Financials and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI rose 1.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI were Jeronimo Martins SGPS SA (ELI:JMT), which rose 5.62% or 0.86 points to trade at 16.15 at the close. Sonae SGPS SA (ELI:YSO) added 2.39% or 0.02 points to end at 0.94 and Mota Engil SGPS SA (ELI:MOTA) was up 2.14% or 0.08 points to 3.63 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Nos SGPS SA (ELI:NOS), which lost 0.84% or 0.03 points to trade at 3.56 in late trade. Ren Redes Energeticas Nacionais SGPS SA (ELI:RENE) declined 0.64% or 0.02 points to end at 2.35 and Corticeira Amorim (ELI:CORA) shed 0.55% or 0.05 points to 9.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 17 to 14 and 4 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for October delivery was up 3.05% or 2.38 to $80.45 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 3.56% or 2.66 to hit $77.39 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.66% or 16.30 to trade at $2,468.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.01% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.01% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.35% at 103.95.
