Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Financials and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 gained 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Sonae (LS:YSO), which rose 5.38% or 0.0660 points to trade at 1.2930 at the close. Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP) added 0.83% or 0.0027 points to end at 0.3292 and Mota Engil (LS:MOTA) was up 0.75% or 0.0300 points to 4.0250 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which lost 3.54% or 0.0085 points to trade at 0.2315 in late trade. Nos SGPS SA (LS:NOS) declined 1.17% or 0.0650 points to end at 5.4700 and Semapa (LS:SEM) shed 1.06% or 0.2000 points to 18.6400.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 18 to 15 and 5 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for March delivery was up 0.52% or 0.37 to $70.90 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.64% or 0.42 to hit $66.03 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.33% or 4.50 to trade at $1360.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.58% to 1.2481, while EUR/GBP rose 0.48% to 0.8756.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.48% at 88.59.
