Investing.com – Poland equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Banking, Basic Materials and Energy sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 fell 1.61%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Grupa Azoty SA (WA:ATTP), which rose 3.93% or 2.37 points to trade at 62.74 at the close. Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA:JSW) added 1.73% or 1.12 points to end at 66.02 and LPP SA (WA:LPPP) was up 1.19% or 60.15 points to 5110.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bank Polska Kasa Opieki SA (WA:PEO), which lost 4.85% or 6.17 points to trade at 121.08 in late trade. ING Bank Śląski SA (WA:INGP) declined 3.34% or 4.90 points to end at 141.95 and KGHM Polska Miedz SA (WA:KGH) shed 3.31% or 2.42 points to 70.72.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 286 to 221 and 190 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.28% or 0.14 to $50.32 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.21% or 0.11 to hit $51.92 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.35% or 4.45 to trade at $1258.25 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.09% to 4.2912, while USD/PLN fell 0.45% to 3.8851.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.37% at 97.63.
