Investing.com – Poland equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Energy, Oil & Gas and Developers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 fell 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Asseco Poland SA (WA:ACPP), which rose 2.80% or 1.50 points to trade at 55.00 at the close. Grupa Azoty SA (WA:ATTP) added 1.86% or 1.17 points to end at 64.18 and Gornictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo SA (WA:PGN) was up 1.64% or 0.09 points to 5.58 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Energa SA (WA:ENGP), which lost 2.99% or 0.28 points to trade at 9.07 in late trade. Tauron Polska Energia SA (WA:TPE) declined 2.73% or 0.080 points to end at 2.850 and Enea SA (WA:ENAE) shed 2.71% or 0.27 points to 9.68.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 319 to 262 and 176 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.48% or 0.26 to $54.16 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.39% or 0.22 to hit $57.05 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.08% or 0.95 to trade at $1139.75 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.24% to 4.4068, while USD/PLN rose 0.83% to 4.2442.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.49% at 103.50.
