Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Chemicals and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 rose 1.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were KGHM Polska Miedz SA (WA:KGHM), which rose 5.06% or 3.95 points to trade at 81.94 at the close. Grupa Azoty SA (WA:ATTP) added 4.12% or 3.50 points to end at 88.50 and Enea SA (WA:ENAE) was up 3.05% or 0.40 points to 13.51 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lubelski Wegiel Bogdanka SA (WA:LWBP), which lost 6.39% or 3.88 points to trade at 56.80 in late trade. Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA:JSW) declined 5.79% or 0.70 points to end at 11.40 and Powszechny Zaklad Ubezpieczen SA (WA:PZU) shed 1.23% or 4.83 points to 388.57.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 338 to 217 and 120 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.29% or 0.13 to $45.36 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.53% or 0.26 to hit $48.48 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 1.10% or 12.40 to trade at $1114.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.24% to 4.2466, while USD/PLN rose 0.98% to 3.8028.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.45% at 96.50.
