Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Energy and Information Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 gained 0.97% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Gornictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo SA (WA:PGN), which rose 6.04% or 0.32 points to trade at 5.62 at the close. Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA:JSW) added 5.80% or 4.00 points to end at 73.00 and Tauron Polska Energia SA (WA:TPE) was up 4.58% or 0.130 points to 2.970 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN SA (WA:PKN), which lost 2.54% or 2.22 points to trade at 85.33 in late trade. Grupa Lotos SA (WA:LTSP) declined 1.73% or 0.70 points to end at 39.70 and Kernel Holding SA (WA:KER) shed 1.14% or 0.74 points to 64.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 283 to 252 and 195 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.40% or 0.21 to $53.27 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.58% or 0.32 to hit $55.24 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.84% or 9.65 to trade at $1133.05 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.38% to 4.4072, while USD/PLN fell 0.29% to 4.2403.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.18% at 103.26.
