Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Media, Energy and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 added 0.77%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Bank Handlowy w Warszawie SA (WA:BHW), which rose 3.62% or 3.06 points to trade at 87.66 at the close. Cyfrowy Polsat SA (WA:CPS) added 2.75% or 0.66 points to end at 24.65 and Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN SA (WA:PKN) was up 2.58% or 1.79 points to 71.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lubelski Wegiel Bogdanka SA (WA:LWBP), which lost 3.72% or 1.48 points to trade at 38.35 in late trade. Kernel Holding SA (WA:KER) declined 3.26% or 1.84 points to end at 54.65 and Alior Bank SA (WA:ALRR) shed 1.77% or 1.17 points to 64.83.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 288 to 239 and 169 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 3.30% or 1.30 to $38.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 2.86% or 1.17 to hit $39.70 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.55% or 6.70 to trade at $1228.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.12% to 4.2532, while USD/PLN fell 0.19% to 3.7964.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.13% at 95.87.
