Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Media and Energy sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 gained 0.54% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Powszechny Zaklad Ubezpieczen SA (WA:PZU), which rose 3.88% or 1.23 points to trade at 32.91 at the close. Grupa Lotos SA (WA:LTSP) added 3.54% or 1.35 points to end at 39.44 and Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN SA (WA:PKN) was up 3.10% or 2.54 points to 84.56 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA:JSW), which lost 4.24% or 3.25 points to trade at 73.45 in late trade. Grupa Azoty SA (WA:ATTP) declined 2.44% or 1.63 points to end at 65.14 and KGHM Polska Miedz SA (WA:KGH) shed 2.12% or 2.02 points to 93.23.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 281 to 273 and 170 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 1.55% or 0.82 to $52.16 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 1.18% or 0.66 to hit $55.06 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.54% or 6.25 to trade at $1165.25 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.02% to 4.4262, while USD/PLN fell 0.24% to 4.1555.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.20% at 100.88.
