Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Food, Basic Materials and Developers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 added 0.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Kernel Holding SA (WA:KER), which rose 7.50% or 3.48 points to trade at 49.90 at the close. KGHM Polska Miedz SA (WA:KGHM) added 5.07% or 4.41 points to end at 91.36 and Eurocash SA (WA:EUR) was up 4.25% or 1.97 points to 48.32 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Energa SA (WA:ENGP), which lost 3.25% or 0.55 points to trade at 16.38 in late trade. Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN SA (WA:PKN) declined 2.08% or 1.40 points to end at 65.95 and Powszechny Zaklad Ubezpieczen SA (WA:PZU) shed 1.78% or 6.98 points to 384.82.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 316 to 242 and 113 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.60% or 0.29 to $48.24 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.22% or 0.12 to hit $51.80 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.01% or 0.10 to trade at $1146.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.07% to 4.2363, while USD/PLN rose 0.13% to 3.7658.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 95.58.
