Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Developers and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 gained 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA:JSW), which rose 12.43% or 2.36 points to trade at 21.35 at the close. Lubelski Wegiel Bogdanka SA (WA:LWBP) added 4.42% or 2.18 points to end at 51.49 and Eurocash SA (WA:EUR) was up 3.47% or 1.75 points to 52.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna SA (WA:PGE), which lost 1.25% or 0.16 points to trade at 12.69 in late trade. LPP SA (WA:LPPP) declined 1.17% or 61.00 points to end at 5139.00 and mBank (WA:MBK) shed 1.10% or 3.45 points to 311.05.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 251 to 237 and 200 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.75% or 0.80 to $44.95 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 1.51% or 0.71 to hit $46.46 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.70% or 9.25 to trade at $1328.55 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.38% to 4.3561, while USD/PLN fell 0.39% to 3.9554.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.14% at 97.02.
