Oriole Resources PLC (AIM:LON:ORR) Martin Rosser talked with Proactive about the company's progress at the Mbe gold project in Cameroon. Rosser shared an update on the maiden drilling campaign, which includes 24 holes over a 6,590-meter program. The initial results are promising, with the first hole extending 358 meters and showing geological similarities to earlier trenching studies.
He emphasised the importance of the drilling program in identifying potential gold resources at depth, following significant surface results from soil sampling and trenching at the Mbe South prospect. The first assay results are anticipated early in the new year, and the program continues steadily with the second hole already underway.
Proactive: Martin, very good to speak with you. You've released an update on the Mbe gold projects in Cameroon. Could you give us a summary, please?
Martin Rosser: Thank you, Stephen, and good morning. We've announced the first hole in the context of its completion. That hole was 358 meters long. It's the first hole in the 6,590-meter maiden drilling program, which includes 24 holes in total. We were very pleased with the initial geology that we saw in the hole. It has a close reflection to the geology that we saw in the trenching. We're very pleased with what we've seen so far and looking forward to the samples being delivered to the assay laboratory in Ghana very soon.
Proactive: Martin, what's the significance of the maiden drilling campaign?
Martin Rosser: Well, of course, the key to making any discovery is to complete a rigorous drilling program. Having got very good surface results from the soil sampling work that was done initially to determine a very large anomaly, and then after that, we did trenching over the Mbe South prospect. That was where we came up with excellent results. So, we're now very excited to be undertaking the drilling program to determine what we have at depth. As viewers will know, I'm sure, drilling is key to that delineation exercise.
Proactive: So what can viewers expect in the coming months then at Mbe?
Martin Rosser: Of course, we've just got the first hole completed. The program is continuing at a steady pace, and we are already on the second hole, moving forward as swiftly as we can. The excitement will revolve around the reporting of the first assay results for the first hole and subsequent holes that we drill. That’s expected early in the new year.
Proactive: Look forward to chatting to you then, Martin. If we don't speak to you again, have a good break at the end of the year.
