Benzinga - by Chris Katje, Benzinga Staff Writer. One of the biggest boy bands of the 1990s is sparking rumors of a reunion for new music and a tour, which comes on the heels of Taylor Swift breaking tour records.

What Happened: A third movie in the Trolls franchise from Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ: CMCSA) unit Dreamworks Animation is set for a theatrical release on Nov. 17, 2023.

The movie titled “Trolls Band Together” will see NSYNC member Justin Timberlake reprise his role as the character Branch.

According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, NSYNC is expected to reunite to make a new song for the movie. The new song would mark the first one from NSYNC band members Timberlake, Joey Fatone, JC Chasez, Lance Bass and Chris Kirkpatrick together since 2001’s “Girlfriend.”

The four other members of the band are also rumored to be included in the movie and reuniting on a song has sparked more rumors of a full-blown reunion that could see the band hitting the road.

Why It’s Important: NSYNC last toured in 2002 after its “Celebrity” tour, which promoted the band’s album of the same name. Since that time, the full five band members have seldom been seen together.

Several of the band members, without Timberlake, have had mini-reunions at weddings and festivals.

The current Taylor Swift tour, her first in five years, has dominated headlines and has led to huge demand for tickets for Ticketmaster parent Live Nation Entertainment Inc (NYSE: LYV).

With a rumored Spice Girls reunion for 2024 to celebrate their 30th anniversary and rumors now of NSYNC reuniting, ticket companies could see a huge year again for concerts.

Comcast could also see an uptick in demand for its movie and its soundtrack if all of NYSNC's members are involved.

The first “Trolls” movie released in 2016 grossed $154 million domestically and $347 million worldwide. The sequel “Trolls World Tour” was released in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic and grossed only $49 million worldwide, while also becoming a big hit released as a digital rental.

“Trolls World Tour” got over five million rentals and over $100 million in rental gross in its first three weeks, according to the Wall Street Journal.
