Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Banking, Insurance and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 declined 0.45%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG), which rose 3.17% or 0.19 points to trade at 6.19 at the close. Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL) added 0.16% or 0.45 points to end at 272.61 and Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to 740.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES), which lost 4.99% or 3.15 points to trade at 60.03 in late trade. Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) declined 3.16% or 0.030 points to end at 0.920 and Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) shed 2.50% or 0.35 points to 13.65.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 24 to 13 and 51 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 1.27% or 0.62 to $48.29 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.99% or 0.51 to hit $51.11 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.95% or 11.75 to trade at $1245.75 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.96% to 332.640, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 317.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.68% at 99.48.
