Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Banking, Insurance and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 fell 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN), which rose 4.96% or 0.81 points to trade at 16.62 at the close. Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) added 4.09% or 0.66 points to end at 16.95 and Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE) was up 4.03% or 29.00 points to 745.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB), which lost 3.45% or 0.55 points to trade at 15.40 in late trade. Union Bank LG (LAGOS:UBN) declined 1.83% or 0.09 points to end at 4.76 and Fbn Holdings (LAGOS:FBNH) shed 1.39% or 0.050 points to 3.550.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 25 to 13 and 45 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 1.40% or 0.74 to $53.49 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.91% or 0.50 to hit $55.73 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.25% or 3.05 to trade at $1212.55 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.11% to 337.610, while USD/NGN fell 3.94% to 304.980.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 100.06.
