Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Banking and Insurance sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 declined 0.89%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Union Bank LG (LAGOS:UBN), which rose 1.91% or 0.11 points to trade at 5.86 at the close. Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) added 1.89% or 0.010 points to end at 0.530 and Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) was up 0.50% or 0.11 points to 22.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ), which lost 3.45% or 0.87 points to trade at 24.35 in late trade. Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE) declined 1.61% or 19.70 points to end at 1205.31 and Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN) shed 1.25% or 0.19 points to 15.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 45 to 27 and 21 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.65% or 0.34 to $51.88 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 1.13% or 0.66 to hit $57.77 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.87% or 11.37 to trade at $1300.13 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.73% to 421.490, while USD/NGN rose 1.54% to 361.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.47% at 92.87.
