Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Insurance, Banking and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 lost 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE), which rose 3.58% or 1.90 points to trade at 53.25 at the close. Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL) added 3.32% or 7.40 points to end at 230.00 and Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE) was up 2.35% or 36.80 points to 1605.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN), which lost 4.88% or 0.040 points to trade at 0.780 in late trade. Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ) declined 4.44% or 1.00 points to end at 21.50 and Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) shed 4.35% or 0.040 points to 0.880.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 53 to 33 and 14 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.01% or 0.01 to $68.06 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.72% or 0.53 to hit $74.53 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.34% or 4.50 to trade at $1318.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.15% to 438.600, while USD/NGN rose 0.14% to 360.000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 91.25.
