Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 3.80% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB), which rose 10.07% or 1.51 points to trade at 16.50 at the close. Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) added 9.90% or 0.19 points to end at 2.11 and Firstcity Bnk (LAGOS:FCMB) was up 9.86% or 0.14 points to 1.56 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ), which lost 0.69% or 0.15 points to trade at 22.00 in late trade. Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE) unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to end at 32.49 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) gained 0.74% or 0.05 points to 6.81.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 47 to 9 and 43 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 1.17% or 0.57 to $49.19 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 1.58% or 0.77 to hit $49.38 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.44% or 5.35 to trade at $1223.85 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.84% to 220.700, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 199.150.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.19% at 95.41.
