Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Oil & Gas and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 added 0.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT), which rose 2.55% or 0.61 points to trade at 24.50 at the close. Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR) added 1.26% or 0.05 points to end at 3.99 and Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) was up 1.11% or 0.010 points to 0.910 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES), which lost 5.00% or 3.50 points to trade at 66.55 in late trade. Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN) declined 4.20% or 0.72 points to end at 16.89 and Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) shed 3.74% or 0.040 points to 1.030.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 24 to 19 and 38 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 2.26% or 1.19 to $53.94 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 2.41% or 1.33 to hit $56.41 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.91% or 10.85 to trade at $1186.95 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.35% to 337.780, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 317.000.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.65% at 100.56.
