Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Insurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 0.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ), which rose 4.90% or 0.71 points to trade at 15.00 at the close. Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) added 4.40% or 0.040 points to end at 0.950 and Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) was up 1.96% or 0.01 points to 0.51 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL), which lost 4.14% or 10.58 points to trade at 243.20 in late trade. Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) declined 0.99% or 0.06 points to end at 6.00 and Fbn Holdings (LAGOS:FBNH) shed 0.66% or 0.020 points to 3.000.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 19 to 11 and 56 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.17% or 0.08 to $48.11 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.06% or 0.03 to hit $49.15 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 1.93% or 23.35 to trade at $1187.85 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.07% to 334.880, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 317.000.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.62% at 101.72.
