Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Insurance, Oil & Gas and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 added 1.51% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which rose 10.10% or 0.290 points to trade at 3.160 at the close. Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) added 9.75% or 0.350 points to end at 3.940 and Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) was up 9.09% or 0.090 points to 1.080 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB), which lost 3.01% or 1.01 points to trade at 32.50 in late trade. Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR) declined 2.39% or 0.39 points to end at 15.66 and Nig Brew (LAGOS:NB) shed 2.30% or 3.44 points to 146.05.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 52 to 26 and 19 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.28% or 0.18 to $63.91 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.22% or 0.15 to hit $69.30 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.17% or 2.30 to trade at $1334.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.35% to 438.840, while USD/NGN fell 0.14% to 360.000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 90.35.
