Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Insurance and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ), which rose 5.00% or 1.15 points to trade at 23.90 at the close. Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT) added 1.54% or 0.75 points to end at 49.15 and Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) was up 0.95% or 0.010 points to 1.060 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL), which lost 4.82% or 11.00 points to trade at 233.60 in late trade. Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) declined 4.71% or 0.120 points to end at 2.430 and Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) shed 2.91% or 0.030 points to 1.030.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 60 to 30 and 14 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.98% or 0.62 to $64.17 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.81% or 0.54 to hit $67.58 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.19% or 2.50 to trade at $1332.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.24% to 444.700, while USD/NGN rose 0.14% to 360.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 89.87.
