Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Basic Materials and Technology Hardware & Equipment sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 2.27% to hit a new 3-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Vopak (AMS:VOPA), which fell 0.09% or 0.04 points to trade at 43.92 at the close. Unilever NV (AMS:UNc) fell 0.43% or 0.16 points to end at 36.84 and TNT Express (AMS:TNTE) was down 0.44% or 0.034 points to 7.626 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA), which lost 6.41% or 0.54 points to trade at 7.89 in late trade. Altice SA (AMS:ATCE) declined 5.99% or 7.45 points to end at 116.95 and OCI (AMS:OCI) shed 4.70% or 1.230 points to 24.915.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 188 to 21 and 5 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 2.75% to 27.10.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 2.28% or 1.21 to $51.80 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 1.55% or 0.89 to hit $56.27 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 1.10% or 12.80 to trade at $1153.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.95% to 1.0951, while EUR/GBP rose 0.19% to 0.7100.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.82% at 97.22.
