Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Healthcare and Support Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 1.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were NN Group (AMS:NN), which rose 0.43% or 0.12 points to trade at 28.99 at the close. ASML Holding (AMS:ASML) added 0.16% or 0.14 points to end at 90.20 and TNT Express (AMS:TNTE) was down 0.12% or 0.009 points to 7.581 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL), which lost 20.24% or 3.34 points to trade at 13.16 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA) declined 4.48% or 0.39 points to end at 8.32 and Aegon (AMS:AEGN) shed 3.72% or 0.266 points to 6.882.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 179 to 34 and 3 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 7.05% to 18.17.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 3.87% or 1.74 to $43.22 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 2.86% or 1.46 to hit $49.56 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.33% or 3.60 to trade at $1107.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.08% to 1.1028, while EUR/GBP rose 0.28% to 0.7088.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.14% at 97.36.
