Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Industrials and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which rose 3.59% or 0.70 points to trade at 20.34 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 1.80% or 1.100 points to end at 62.200 and Gemalto (AS:GTO) was up 1.59% or 0.85 points to 54.24 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Unilever NV (AS:UNc), which lost 4.23% or 1.67 points to trade at 37.70 in late trade. Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) declined 0.67% or 0.43 points to end at 63.98 and Boskalis Westmin (AS:BOSN) shed 0.62% or 0.22 points to 35.02.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 71 to 57 and 9 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 1.80% to 14.21.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 2.10% or 1.11 to $53.86 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 2.29% or 1.26 to hit $56.34 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.92% or 11.05 to trade at $1186.75 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.69% to 1.0677, while EUR/GBP fell 0.27% to 0.8483.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.67% at 100.58.
