Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Healthcare and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD), which rose 3.18% or 0.51 points to trade at 16.55 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) added 2.07% or 0.370 points to end at 18.205 and Koninklijke KPN NV (AS:KPN) was up 0.84% or 0.025 points to 2.991 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 2.14% or 1.510 points to trade at 69.150 in late trade. Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa) declined 1.05% or 0.250 points to end at 23.500 and Aegon NV (AS:AEGN) shed 0.80% or 0.036 points to 4.438.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 72 to 51 and 7 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 2.01% to 12.23.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.03% or 0.45 to $43.06 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 1.24% or 0.57 to hit $45.45 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.20% or 2.49 to trade at $1245.99 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.08% to 1.1143, while EUR/GBP fell 0.14% to 0.8804.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 97.38.
