Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 1.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which rose 0.26% or 0.13 points to trade at 49.49 at the close. Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) fell 0.01% or 0.002 points to end at 18.500 and Heineken (AS:HEIN) was down 0.07% or 0.06 points to 85.48 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which lost 3.98% or 0.31 points to trade at 7.57 in late trade. Randstad Holding NV (AS:RAND) declined 3.26% or 1.92 points to end at 56.94 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) shed 3.14% or 2.720 points to 83.860.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 106 to 16 and 7 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 15.94% to 17.41.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 1.25% or 0.77 to $60.87 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 1.54% or 1.00 to hit $63.73 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.52% or 6.90 to trade at $1311.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.14% to 1.2210, while EUR/GBP rose 0.32% to 0.8889.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 90.62.
