Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 1.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Relx NV (AS:RELN), which rose 1.29% or 0.235 points to trade at 18.500 at the close. WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) added 0.84% or 1.60 points to end at 193.10 and Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) was up 0.81% or 0.165 points to 20.600 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which lost 3.58% or 1.040 points to trade at 28.005 in late trade. Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT) declined 3.37% or 0.86 points to end at 24.63 and Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa) shed 3.31% or 0.990 points to 28.880.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 87 to 39 and 15 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 4.03% to 10.94.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 3.20% or 2.14 to $64.75 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 3.37% or 2.56 to hit $73.38 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 2.12% or 27.70 to trade at $1280.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.34% to 1.1607, while EUR/GBP rose 0.23% to 0.8743.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 94.80.
