Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Technology, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.91%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Aegon NV (AS:AEGN), which rose 2.22% or 0.118 points to trade at 5.434 at the close. NN Group NV (AS:NN) added 0.61% or 0.22 points to end at 36.22 and Koninklijke KPN NV (AS:KPN) was up 0.13% or 0.003 points to 2.385 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which lost 3.84% or 1.080 points to trade at 27.060 in late trade. ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML) declined 2.78% or 5.05 points to end at 176.75 and Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT) shed 2.35% or 0.57 points to 23.73.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 97 to 31 and 12 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 10.09% to 13.56.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.78% or 1.17 to $64.52 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.78% or 0.59 to hit $74.75 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.20% or 2.60 to trade at $1277.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.49% to 1.1566, while EUR/GBP rose 0.11% to 0.8783.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.37% at 94.76.
