Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.85%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Relx NV (AS:RELN), which rose 1.03% or 0.185 points to trade at 18.105 at the close. ASR Nederland NV (AS:ASRNL) added 0.83% or 0.28 points to end at 34.18 and Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa) was up 0.10% or 0.030 points to 29.945 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT), which lost 5.01% or 1.15 points to trade at 21.81 in late trade. ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML) declined 2.90% or 4.95 points to end at 165.80 and Koninklijke DSM NV (AS:DSMN) shed 2.27% or 1.96 points to 84.24.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 107 to 25 and 11 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 8.20% to 15.94.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.99% or 0.72 to $73.48 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.05% or 0.04 to hit $77.42 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.37% or 4.60 to trade at $1251.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.20% to 1.1576, while EUR/GBP rose 0.41% to 0.8846.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 94.93.
