Netherlands shares lower at close of trade; AEX down 0.78%

Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Telecoms, Healthcare and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.78%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were SBM Offshore NV (AS:SBMO), which rose 1.82% or 0.24 points to trade at 13.73 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) added 1.27% or 0.360 points to end at 28.795 and Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) was up 0.69% or 0.54 points to 78.90 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which lost 2.79% or 0.23 points to trade at 7.95 in late trade. Koninklijke Vopak NV (AS:VOPA) declined 2.53% or 0.99 points to end at 38.20 and Unilever NV DRC (AS:UNc) shed 1.74% or 0.76 points to 43.20.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 72 to 49 and 8 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.

The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 9.59% to 16.15.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 1.12% or 0.69 to $62.24 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.83% or 0.54 to hit $65.38 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.50% or 6.80 to trade at $1349.40 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.00% to 1.2405, while EUR/GBP rose 0.32% to 0.8857.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 89.12.
