Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Consumer Goods and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which rose 1.43% or 0.21 points to trade at 14.91 at the close. DSM Kon (AS:DSMN) added 0.59% or 0.31 points to end at 53.05 and Randstad (AS:RAND) was up 0.45% or 0.20 points to 46.01 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 3.20% or 0.13 points to trade at 3.84 in late trade. Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa) declined 1.32% or 0.29 points to end at 21.67 and Aegon (AS:AEGN) shed 1.13% or 0.051 points to 4.451.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 79 to 76 and 16 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 2.62% to 20.88.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 1.24% or 0.60 to $47.81 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 1.42% or 0.69 to hit $48.03 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.31% or 3.90 to trade at $1249.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.15% to 1.1206, while EUR/GBP rose 0.26% to 0.7744.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 95.34.
