Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Telecoms, Basic Materials and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Relx PLC (AS:REL), which rose 1.25% or 0.215 points to trade at 17.470 at the close. Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa) added 1.17% or 0.335 points to end at 28.950 and Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) was up 0.68% or 0.132 points to 19.450 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT), which lost 3.92% or 1.00 points to trade at 24.49 in late trade. Randstad NV (AS:RAND) declined 2.85% or 1.37 points to end at 46.65 and Aalberts Industries NV (AS:AALB) shed 2.18% or 0.82 points to 36.88.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 71 to 56 and 12 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 7.66% to 12.28.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 2.16% or 1.53 to $72.31 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 2.75% or 2.15 to hit $80.39 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.32% or 3.80 to trade at $1205.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.18% to 1.1770, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.00% to 0.8969.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 93.69.
