Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Oil & Gas and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which rose 1.78% or 0.04 points to trade at 2.29 at the close. WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) added 1.65% or 2.88 points to end at 177.00 and Wolters Kluwer (AS:WLSNc) was up 0.88% or 0.46 points to 52.96 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT), which lost 4.43% or 1.03 points to trade at 22.23 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) declined 1.43% or 0.395 points to end at 27.320 and Aegon NV (AS:AEGN) shed 1.11% or 0.064 points to 5.712.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 71 to 56 and 10 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 0.63% to 11.62.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.62% or 0.45 to $71.83 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.25% or 0.20 to hit $81.06 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.55% or 6.60 to trade at $1198.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.18% to 1.1746, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.8917.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 93.85.
