Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Technology and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 1.78%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 5.49% or 0.279 points to trade at 5.364 at the close. Randstad (AS:RAND) added 3.24% or 1.30 points to end at 41.48 and Philips Kon (AS:PHG) was up 2.85% or 0.74 points to 26.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gemalto (AS:GTO), which lost 1.11% or 0.71 points to trade at 63.10 in late trade. ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd) declined 0.27% or 0.05 points to end at 18.67 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) gained 0.15% or 0.03 points to 16.52.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 139 to 34 and 10 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 13.28% to 14.70.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 2.36% or 1.07 to $46.41 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 1.77% or 0.83 to hit $47.66 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.04% or 13.85 to trade at $1345.25 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.32% to 1.1226, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.8581.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.30% at 95.17.
