Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Technology Hardware & Equipment and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.90%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA), which rose 6.58% or 0.29 points to trade at 4.78 at the close. Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL) added 2.72% or 0.20 points to end at 7.68 and NN Group (AMS:NN) was up 2.16% or 0.55 points to 26.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Randstad (AMS:RAND), which lost 0.53% or 0.28 points to trade at 52.86 in late trade. ING Groep NV (AMS:ING) declined 0.28% or 0.035 points to end at 12.675 and Gemalto (AMS:GTO) gained 0.11% or 0.06 points to 57.02.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 117 to 46 and 4 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 2.70% to 30.27.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.38% or 0.17 to $44.57 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.47% or 0.23 to hit $47.47 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 2.14% or 23.80 to trade at $1137.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.58% to 1.1260, while EUR/GBP rose 0.10% to 0.7406.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.61% at 95.75.
