Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology, Basic Materials and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 2.34% or 0.470 points to trade at 20.550 at the close. ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML) added 1.03% or 1.20 points to end at 117.70 and Koninklijke Philips NV (AS:PHG) was up 0.87% or 0.27 points to 31.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 1.09% or 0.730 points to trade at 66.390 in late trade. ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd) declined 0.33% or 0.08 points to end at 24.07 and Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) shed 0.31% or 0.24 points to 77.25.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 74 to 48 and 16 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 3.22% to 12.97.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.57% or 0.25 to $44.48 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.51% or 0.24 to hit $46.95 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.16% or 1.93 to trade at $1211.63 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.04% to 1.1395, while EUR/GBP rose 0.10% to 0.8853.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 95.84.
