Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Telecoms, Consumer Services and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Ahold Kon (AMS:AHLN), which rose 5.48% or 0.94 points to trade at 18.18 at the close. Altice SA (AMS:ATCE) added 3.11% or 2.90 points to end at 96.22 and Aegon (AMS:AEGN) was up 2.98% or 0.209 points to 7.231 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Unibail-Rodamco (AMS:UNBP), which lost 1.09% or 2.65 points to trade at 241.05 in late trade. Akzo Nobel (AMS:AKZO) declined 1.01% or 0.70 points to end at 68.57 and Unilever NV (AMS:UNc) shed 0.42% or 0.17 points to 39.26.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 160 to 80 and 6 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 2.58% to 19.48.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.79% or 0.47 to $58.92 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 1.13% or 0.75 to hit $65.41 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.61% or 7.30 to trade at $1181.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.48% to 1.1147, while EUR/GBP fell 1.39% to 0.7151.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.25% at 95.14.
