Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology Hardware & Equipment, Technology and Software & Computer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ASML Holding (AMS:ASML), which rose 10.78% or 9.88 points to trade at 101.50 at the close. Gemalto (AMS:GTO) added 1.94% or 1.58 points to end at 83.16 and Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA) was up 1.47% or 0.13 points to 8.96 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Vopak (AMS:VOPA), which lost 3.67% or 1.84 points to trade at 48.48 in late trade. Heineken (AMS:HEIN) declined 3.01% or 2.28 points to end at 73.47 and Altice SA (AMS:ATCE) shed 2.24% or 2.30 points to 100.55.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 175 to 71 and 6 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 0.35% to 19.64.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.42% or 0.24 to $56.37 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 1.22% or 0.76 to hit $62.84 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 1.25% or 15.00 to trade at $1188.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.15% to 1.0720, while EUR/GBP fell 0.76% to 0.7137.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.08% at 98.28.
