Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 1.61% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML), which rose 8.14% or 14.00 points to trade at 186.05 at the close. Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) added 4.41% or 3.30 points to end at 78.10 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was up 2.93% or 0.755 points to 26.485 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which lost 0.45% or 0.01 points to trade at 3.08 in late trade. Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) declined 0.44% or 0.095 points to end at 21.410 and Gemalto (AS:GTO) shed 0.24% or 0.12 points to 49.92.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 83 to 41 and 13 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 3.91% to 11.03 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.30% or 0.20 to $67.36 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.72% or 0.52 to hit $72.68 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.07% or 0.80 to trade at $1226.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.01% to 1.1659, while EUR/GBP rose 0.34% to 0.8922.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 94.75.
