Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Telecoms, Healthcare and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.87%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 4.02% or 0.805 points to trade at 20.820 at the close. ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML) added 3.31% or 4.94 points to end at 154.04 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 3.00% or 2.680 points to 91.940 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT), which lost 6.94% or 1.63 points to trade at 21.86 in late trade. Heineken (AS:HEIN) declined 1.76% or 1.42 points to end at 79.40 and WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) shed 1.48% or 2.24 points to 149.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 90 to 38 and 8 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 7.09% to 15.45.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 2.95% or 1.50 to $52.43 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 2.56% or 1.52 to hit $60.98 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 1.03% or 12.60 to trade at $1238.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.34% to 1.1356, while EUR/GBP rose 0.42% to 0.8908.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.37% at 96.835.
